It took a while but here we are again, letting you all know what we're busy with! The fact that it took a while is probably a good sign I guess...
We've been busy training, working on the performances and painting some walls in the 'Wilde Westen' (where we train). Yesterday in the morning we had a presentation for the students of ROC and in the afternoon we had the Factory Club!!
Like in Kenya the Factory Club is like an open stage where we show our work, we have a DJ, musiciens, a MC and audience can join on stage. We'll be doing it every friday, so if you want to come and watch or do your own act, let us know!
First we tried to keep it outside, everything was ready: banners, music instalation, chairs for audience and then...it started to rain! So we went quickly inside where we also had a picturepresentation on the wall. We showed some of the dancepieces we had worked on. Like a Spanish dance;a part of our children performance with acrobatics; live music with a dance duet; some pieces of Frontier (the latest show of K-pag)and some other dance pieces. There was a nice audience with a lot of kids and also some teachers of het Wilde Westen! You can see it on the pictures.
Afterwards we ate together with all the Switchers.
Today we also had some activities. Half of the group went to a Kortenhoef where there was a festivity where they smoke fish. The other half of the group went to Wijk bij Duurstede for the Kleurrijk Festival. Because I went there, I can only tell something about the Kleurrijk Festival. There were a lot of activities organized with music-, sport- and dancepresentations and a market with all kinds of things, which are origanally from other countries. With the Switchers we did our performances and workshops. The kids were very enthousiastic so we danced a lot with them! Some were very nicely dressed because of a fashionshow they did.
Our visit to Wijk bij Duurstede also gave us the opportunitie to learn something about windmills. Because there's a beautiful one there and we paid a visit. We were told that they grind grain between two stones within the mill to get flour..So if you want to know more about that, just pay a visit to Wijk bij Duurstede, or ask any of the Switchers!
This was it for now..Check the pics!
Badaaye!
